Finishing the Film Was the Goal. Getting Distribution Was a Bonus.
I won’t bury the lead — my feature film The Wild Dreamers just got picked up by Indie Rights for distribution. This is the film I wrote, directed, shot, and acted in. Whether it found a distributor or not was never the point. My plan was to upload it to YouTube and Vimeo, then move on to the next one. What mattered most was committing to each phase of production — seeing it through with whatever tools I had.
I had limited funds, and it took time — a lot of it. But with a few great people willing to work for very little on the post side, the film got finished. I learned more than I could’ve imagined.
I chose Indie Rights because they’re fair and transparent. I’ve heard too many stories of filmmakers getting picked up, only to have their film vanish into a black hole — no reports, no updates, and their rights tied up for years. That wasn’t going to be me.
The rollout will start with Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube Movies in the U.S. It could take a week or it could take six. After that, it’ll hit Tubi and a few other platforms. I’ll let you know as it happens.
I’m also stepping back onto Instagram to share updates and promote screenings. I’ve been off the app since last year, and honestly, it’s been peaceful. Less noise, more making. But with the film heading out into the world, I want to show up with intention — just updates, no filler.
I’m especially excited to share that The Wild Dreamers will screen in New York at NewFilmmakers NY during the first week of July. As soon as I have the date and time, I’ll send them your way.
That’s all for now. Keep creating. Keep going.
